SUMMARY:Fall 2025 CLE Workshop: Employment Law
DESCRIPTION:The world of employment and labor law is evolving at a breakneck pace. Executive branch action and court rulings have caused sweeping changes to many areas\, such as hiring international faculty\, student-athlete status\, and employment-related Title VI and DEI challenges. Higher education attorneys and administrators are tasked with spotting important trends\, managing ever-higher levels of risk\, and ensuring the workforce continues to serve the university’s mission through this increasingly complex landscape. At the same time\, campus counsel and administrators continue to manage day-to-day issues involving employees and labor on campus and through litigation. \nJoin us in Washington\, D.C. for this comprehensive CLE Workshop on higher education employment law. Workshop sessions will cover relevant topics such as: \n\nEmployment litigation and labor law trends;\nFaculty-specific issues\, including faculty misconduct investigations\, academic freedom\, free speech\, and intellectual property disputes;\nInterpretating new guidance and trends regarding Title VI and DEI initiatives in the employment context;\nStudent-athletes as employees and associated NIL considerations;\nProviding guidance during periods of workforce downsizing and managing your institution’s crisis communications; and\nOther employment-related challenges\, especially in light of increased immigration enforcement of international faculty and staff\, artificial intelligence use on campus\, a renewed focus on the False Claims Act\, and conversations regarding employee compensation and benefits.\n\nWorkshop attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with colleagues and discuss relevant issues through discussion groups. \nWho Should Attend?\nThis program is at the intermediate to advanced level. Presenters will assume attendees have some familiarity and experience with employment law. The workshop content will be most useful to college and university counsel with responsibility for employment law matters\, as well as campus administrators who oversee matters related to employment law and labor issues.
